6 on the 6th August

August was a fantastic month!  From beginning to end, it was filled with fun, family and lots of adventures.  And I am so pleased to be able to participate in the 6 on the 6th Blog circle again this month!  With the whirlwind of activity, its a commitment for all of us, but don’t forget to head on over to check out the amazing work of Cynthia Valdez as she shares her Summer with us!

We had a family reunion with one side of the family (you can check out more of those adventures here and here) and then a visit from Grandaddy Ted to see us was a major highlight!  The kids enjoyed ‘teaching’ reading and math!

I also had the chance to look at my city in a new way!  This is near the train station in Newark, New Jersey… and I just loved the lines.  I am enjoying exploring black and white more – creating more ways to look at the area I’ve lived in for a number of years.

August also meant the opportunity to take a girls trip to Miami – it was not restful by any stretch, but certainly restorative!  Amazing how some time to be someone other than “Mommie” can re-energize you.  As they say however, “What happens in Miami, stays in Miami!” so I will share one shot I took at Wynwood.  It’s a wonderful arts district and has a series of murals by very talented artists that seem magical – especially at night (which is when we made it)!

And finally – I have to say August was so much fun in terms of times with my little ones!  One adventuresome day with no babysitter yielded lots of laughs (take a look), but we surely had time to spend together, talk and I love how they are growing, being and becoming!

6 on the 6th – July

I am so exited to be back on for this month with the 6 on the 6th blog circle!  If you haven’t seen my blog post Summertime Memories about how fast the Summer has flown, check it out!

This amazing group of photographers from all over the world shares their favorite 6 photos each month (with a brief hiatus due to a time warp in June!).  One you look here be sure to head over to see the work of Clopping Photography and Desert Bloom Photography.

In July, we had so many wonderful moments… From time with friends and lots of swimming, to the best parts of the Summer.

Fourth of July at Grandma’s house with friends my husband has known since childhood; the Jersey Shore and the joy of a sprinkler on a hot Summer day!

6 on the 6th (May)

I am really looking forward to the fantastic work of my fellow photographers in this months Blog Circle.

May is always a busy month in our house – we start off with my husband’s birthday, then Mothers Day… then that week my Mother would have turned 69 on her birthday.  This year we had a bit of a hiccup — my little Miss broke her collarbone on the 11th!  But we recovered and she is fully back on her feet!  We even had the opportunity to participate in a Batizado for the kids Capoeira – and they both got new belts!  You can see that post here if you missed it.

At the end of the month, it was my birthday – combined with Memorial Day!  We had a wonderful weekend with time in NYC and at the Zoo and then with friends.  The kids even got to see The Jungle Book!  So when I looked back at the photos from May, it was a perfect walk down memory lane and a good time was had by all — I hope you enjoy some of the memories as I do.  Don’t forget to click through the blog circle!  Next up is Desert Bloom Photography.

6 on the 6th (April)

I loved seeing the beautiful work of the photographers that participated in the 6 on the 6th  Blog Circle last month!  The different perspectives, the interesting subjects and the talent combined to make great ‘reading’!  I hope you enjoyed them as well.

April was a month of highs and lows — and a for me a reminder of the power of artistry in life!

My family had such an amazing time in Arizona… the kids enjoyed the time with Mommie and Daddy — and Scottsdale, Phoenix and Sedona provide a great variety of things to do and see!  We had an amazing time learning about art and culture through museums, tours and bumming around!

Then I had a date with my husband and we were able to ‘run away’ to New Orleans for the weekend — so much fun.  A great city, with wonderful music and quality time, can’t be beat!

On the flip side, the world lost an amazing artist… Prince Rogers Nelson was from my hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota and created a massive part of the playlist that makes up my life.  I don’t think I’ve been as shaken about the loss of any music icon as I was about Prince.  As I’ve listened to his music over the past few weeks, I’ve been amazed all over again at the phenomenal talent and gift he shared with the world.  A striking reminder of 1) the role that art and music play as foundational elements to life  and 2) to live live to the fullest, being authentic and pursuing your dreams!

All the more inspiration to invest the time to develop my passion…

Here are some of my favorites from the month of April!  From Arizona to New Orleans to New York and some good family time, it was fully of art, history and wonderful experiences!

I hope you enjoy and don’t forget to browse around and look at some of my other posts (and my website); then click on over to see the fantastic work of Jenna Donato Photography and the other photographers in our Blog Circle.
